The
Journey of the Self
We intend to introduce a simple yet complete outline of the journey of creation and the parallel journey of the self, their emergence, development, sustenance, their growth toward highest
potential, and subsequent decline. The journey consists of five distinct yet connected phases,
which complete the cycle of the journey of the integrated self. Each phase is dependent upon,
and a product of, the previous phase. Each phase unfolds into the next one.

In this chapter, the demarcation of phases by age is intended to be seen as general and qualitative, rather than specific and quantitative. The phases will overlap, one to the next, but the overall pattern, however, is one that has its own validity. We also must remember that for every rule there is an exception, and that exception only serves to prove the rule. But the exceptions are few and far between.
